A strategy session rather than a talk, sponsored by IUC-UCoBS, on the real-world barriers women face in the tech industry and the actions that can remove them. I joined members of the Mbarara University Computing Students Association working on a more equitable Ugandan tech ecosystem.

The barrier named was bias, and the strategy that follows is awareness and sensitisation, then turning those plans into practice.

A five-day introduction to Python run by IUC-UCoBS Sub Project 6 at Mbarara University of Science & Technology with VLIR-UOS, and taught by Dr. Joris Mattheijssens and Dr. Thomas Van Giel of Ghent University. It covered core Python, scientific computing with NumPy and Matplotlib, and hands-on work in Jupyter Notebooks and Google Colab.

A working toolkit for research-style data work, from core Python to NumPy and plotting, ready to apply to real research and innovation problems.

A student session on getting more out of IEEE, with speakers Eng. Vincent Olema and Vicent Rutagangibwa on career development, professional networking, and global innovation. It also set up collaboration between the IEEE Uganda Section and the Mbarara University Computing Students Association.
